Clean Your Patio Furniture in a Flash

Hi, everyone! My guess is that many of you like to spend time with loved ones out on your patio during the warm summer months. I know how fun it is to visit with family and friends on a beautiful evening just as the fireflies are starting to appear. During these pleasant gatherings, I’m sure you’re not thinking about cleaning patio furniture. However, it’s a necessary task if you want to keep your outdoor furniture looking its best. Keep in mind that cleaning methods differ depending on the type of patio furniture you have. Here are some tips I want to share on how to clean patio furniture.

Tips for Plastic Patio Furniture

A collection of white plastic chairs and similar patio furniture can be cleaned with a solution consisting of one gallon of warm water and three tablespoons of dishwashing detergent. Cleaning with a sponge or a soft rag removes scuff marks and other dirt streaks that can accumulate on white plastic furniture. A toothbrush with soft bristles is also useful for getting rid of black marks on chair backs, legs, etc. Be sure you rinse the soapy solution off with a hose and dry the furniture with an old cloth. Alternatively, if you have colored plastic patio furniture you can use a solution of plain water and all-purpose cleaner.

Wicker Furniture

You may be wondering how to clean patio furniture that’s made of wicker. Vacuuming each item of furniture with the appropriate attachment is one effective way to get rid of the dust that accumulates in the crevices. You may also use mild soap and water to give the furniture a thorough cleaning every few weeks. Be sure that the wicker is dried after you clean it.

Glass Top Patio Tables

It wouldn’t surprise me if many of you have a glass top table in your collection of patio furniture. Cleaning a glass top table is easy with a basic household spray glass cleaner. Or, you can hose off the table and wipe down any dirty areas with a sponge. If you dry the glass top table completely, you won’t have any water spots to contend with when the job is done.

Patio Chairs with Woven Strips of Material

Chairs with an aluminum frame and woven material are a very familiar type of patio furniture. Cleaning this sort of chair is a fairly simple process. You can use dishwashing soap and water. A scrub brush with soft bristles or a sponge can help to erase any dirt streaks on these types of chairs. After cleaning a chair, rinse it with a hose and put it out in the sun to dry.

Seat Cushions

Cleaning patio furniture may involve cleaning seat cushions. This is a simple process if a cushion displays a tag with washing instructions. If the cushions don’t have any washing instructions, you can clean them with warm water and mild soap. It’s important to make sure your cushions dry thoroughly so mold won’t grow inside them.

Thanks for reading. Here’s a little more information for you on the topic. Hope your furniture cleaning tasks go smoothly so you can get back to enjoying the warm weather! Thanks, Alan
