The side leg height is the height from the ground to the start of the roof. Knowing the side leg height is important for understanding the entry clearance of your structure.
It ensures that your carport or garage can accommodate vehicles or other tall items without any issues.
The center clearance is measured from the ground to the center brace, which reinforces the roof’s strength. For a carport, knowing the center clearance is essential when parking a larger vehicle such as an RV.
For a garage, the center clearance determines helps you understand much space you have to store your items.
The peak height is the highest point of the building. Knowing this is crucial as some localities may require a permit for structures over a certain height.

How the Roof Style Affects the Building’s Height
The regular style roof provides a little extra center clearance. However, we recommend the vertical style roof, our most popular seller due to it’s strength and durability. It also allows for rain to fall off immediately and snow to slide off more easily.

We offer up to 18 feet 9 inches of clearance and 19 feet 3 inches peak height. That’s plenty of room for big trucks, RV’s or boats!
Before you order, check with your local zoning laws to see if there are any height restrictions in your area.
Most people go with the standard 8 foot leg height which fits most cars and SUV’s. But if you have a taller vehicle you may need to go higher.
Pro tip: Always measure your vehicle first to avoid surprises!
Your carport should be at least 1 foot taller than your tallest vehicle (including roof racks, roll bars or A/C units) so you have plenty of room to park without worry.
Tip: If you plan to enclose the sides later, keep in mind the final clearance will be about 3 inches lower than the side leg height.
The center clearance is the highest point inside your carport or garage. It’s always taller than the side leg height because of the roof slope.
For example, if you have a 12 foot side leg height, the center clearance will be about 14-15 feet. That extra space is for bigger vehicles or extra storage overhead.
